Artistic Statement
Not unlike an ancient Japanese teamaster, whose abilities and knowledge had to range from the plantation and preparation of tea and food, to garden design, architecture, philosophy, spiritual understanding and practice, pottery, poetry and calligraphy, all embedded in a sense of ethics and right livelihood, I would like to propose a concept of artistic expression that mirrors the understanding of the Way of Tea as a way of life.
With such an understanding the arts as a category of specialization or career disappear.
They become practices, open to everybody, that honor, inform, celebrate and participate in life as a creative process.
The emphasis is on the approach, on how to meet life.
